Brief information on the superdraw facts and rules
The organizers of EuroMillions hold a superdraw of the lottery 3-4 times per year and announce a guaranteed jackpot amount from 100 to 130 million euros irrespective of the size of the lottery’s prize pool on the eve of the megadraw.
This is with the exception of superdraws where the progressive current jackpot of the lottery exceeds the announced size of the mega draw’s prize pool.
Most historically big winnings of the EuroMillions lottery took place due to superdraws during holding of those or during the subsequent, later draws, when the jackpot grew naturally by way of rollovers to exceed the amount announced in the superdraw.
As for the rules of the game and filling in lottery tickets for participation in the mega draw, there are actually no peculiarities as compared to the common, ordinary of the EuroMillions draws.
How to Play
How many numbers do you have to pick?
In EuroMillions HotPicks, it is up to you how many numbers you choose, from a minimum of one to a maximum of five. Just specify how many numbers you are picking and select your numbers from a choice of 1 to 50, or opt for a Lucky Dip.
What is the different between Pick 1 and Pick 5?
When you play EuroMillion HotPicks, you choose how many numbers you want to play; the caveat is that you have to match them all to win a prize. If you play Pick 1, for instance, you choose one number and must match it with one of the winning numbers. If you play Pick 5, you choose five numbers and must match them all with the winning numbers.
How much does it cost to play?
It costs £1.50 to play EuroMillions HotPicks. The price is the same for each game, whether you play Pick 1, Pick 2, Pick 3, Pick 4 or Pick 5.
Can you play different games on one ticket?
Yes, you can select up to five lines on one play slip and you do not have to enter the same game. You could therefore play a full combination of Pick 1 to Pick 5 on a single play slip, at a total cost of £7.50.
When do draws take place?
The winning EuroMillions HotPicks numbers are taken from the main EuroMillions game. The five main balls are used as the winning line – the Lucky Stars are not used for HotPicks. Draws take place on Tuesdays and Fridays at approximately 20:00 GMT.
When do ticket sales close?
You must purchase tickets before 19:30 GMT on Tuesdays and Fridays to enter the draw on that particular night. If you miss the cut-off time, you must wait until sales reopen for the following draw.
Do you have to play EuroMillions to enter EuroMillions HotPicks?
No. Although the two games use the same winning numbers, they are separate to each other so you can play one or the other, or both.
Can you cancel an entry?
Under normal circumstances, EuroMillions HotPicks entries cannot be cancelled. However, if you play online and are given two or more identical Lucky Dip selections, you can contact National Lottery operator Camelot’s customer care team. At Camelot’s discretion, the money spent on the duplicate entry may be refunded into your account.
How To Win The EuroMillions Game
To play the EuroMillions with the best shot possible, pick your numbers based on pattern #1 or #2. Please check the free guide and discover how Lotterycodex Patterns work for EuroMillions and other lottery games.
It’s not easy to win the EuroMillions. But you can do something to make sure your bet is a good one. With lots of superstitions going around the lottery today, a lot of EuroMillions players are doing it all wrong. Don’t be one of them. Be ahead of them. Please read my post on how to win the lottery mathematically.
If you hate math, then you can use the Lotterycodex calculator to avoid manual calculation. The calculator is a superior type of lotto number generator that is based on combinatorics and probability principle.
But remember, the lottery is just entertainment. Please understand that lottery addiction can affect your life negatively in many ways. You have to play with the proper attitude and with a lottery game plan. Please play the lottery responsibly.,

The Biggest EuroMillions Winners
I’ve said this before, but I’ll say it again: EuroMillions’ odds are pretty impressive for a lottery of this scale. In fact, there have been a total of 365 jackpot winners from the 9 countries that run EuroMillions. Here are some of the biggest winners:
- One of the biggest EuroMillions’ jackpots won was back in October 24, 2014, when an anonymous winner from Castelo Branco, Portugal nabbed the €190 million prize. The astronomical prize was the result of six roll overs.
- The jackpot has reached the €190 million jackpot ceiling other times as well. Interestingly, these happened in October as well. One was in October 6, 2017, and another in October 8, 2019. We’re sensing some kind of pattern here..
- In August 12, 2012, couple Adrian and Gillian Bayford won the £148,656,000 jackpot. Their story took a sad turn, however, as their new life – and the new problems that come with it – took a toll on their relationship. They have since divorced and are now living separate lives.
- Next up are Colin and Chris Weir who, in July 12, 2011, won the £161,653,000 jackpot. The couple went on to establish the Weir Charitable Trust, a charity organization that aims to support the Scottish community by way of funding worthwhile projects.
So What Happens if You Win?
Unlike other lottery games, if you win the jackpot in EuroMillions, you don’t have the option to be paid in annuity. Instead, jackpots are paid as a lump sum – which means that you get to take home more than if annuity adjustments were involved.
As for taxes, you will be glad to know that EuroMillions games are tax-free – except for three European countries, that is. Portugal, for starters, takes 20% taxes from prizes exceeding €5,000. Spain, on the other hand, takes 20% off from prizes that exceed €2,500. Switzerland players have it worst though. The taxes collected from their winnings are approximately 35%.
Knowing the Best and the Worst Combination Should Help
Getting the right composition will surely give you the best shot possible at winning the EuroMillions. Of course, you don’t win any money by matching the pattern. But as a lotto player, you want to play with a sensible strategy and get closer to the winning numbers.
It’s extremely difficult to win the lottery. Lotterycodex has no power to change that fact. But Lotterycodex can help you be wrong less. The lottery should be fun. But at least be sensible when choosing your combinations and don’t waste your money on worthless combinations.
Here in Lotterycodex, we don’t say you increase your chance of winning by choosing the right composition. What we do say is that when you play the Euromillions, at least, be wrong less. Don’t waste your money on useless combinations. Lotterycodex patterns are here to guide you on that aspect. (Check out the Lotterycodex Calculators)
I encourage you to check Lotterycodex free guide to learn more about how we calculate everything. Lotterycodex is the only lottery calculator that combines combinatorics and probability calculation in one system.
If you are playing blindly, there’s no guarantee you are not falling into one of these worst patterns in EuroMillions. So I propose that you should incorporate the use of probability theory in your playing strategy.
The benefits are apparent. First, you are confident that you are not wasting your money, and second, you get the best shot at winning the game.
The difference between the best and the worst is so huge. You don’t want to take it for granted.
We don’t say that those combinations under the worst group will not occur. We say that those combinations have the worst ratio of success to failure.
Lotterycodex Patterns and The Best Combinations In EuroMillions
Earlier, we discussed that any questions you ask about the lottery must be a probability problem to solve.
So to know the probability of 1-2-3-4-5, we ask the question “What is the probability of a combination composed of three-odds and two-even numbers?”
However, this is not the only question we can ask, we can also ask:
“What is the probability of a combination composed of five low numbers?”
The problem though, two different questions may provide different probability results.
When you deal with low-high and odd-even patterns as two separate probability analyses, you will encounter serious contradiction.
To illustrate the contradiction, 1-2-3-4-5 is one of the best combinations under odd-even patterns.
But then we know that under the analysis of the low-high patterns, such combination is one of the worst ones.
So combinatorial mathematics and probability theory can be very confusing if you are not careful.
So what is the solution?
The solution is Lotterycodex patterns
Using Lotterycodex patterns, we put these two analyses together into one combinatorial equation. The result is what we call the Lotterycodex patterns.
So now to solve the probability of the combination 1-2-3-4-5, we ask this question instead:
“What is the probability of a combination composed of three-low-odds and two-low-even numbers?”
That’s how Lotterycodex patterns can help you along the way. However, combinatorial calculation with probability analysis can be very complex so I created the Lotterycodex calculator to make everything much simpler and faster.
For simplicity, I have divided EuroMillions patterns into three groups.
|Best Group||Middle Group||Worst Group|
|Patterns #1, #2||Patterns #3 to #28||Patterns #29 to #56|
|Two patterns||26 patterns||28 patterns|
As you notice, there are only two best patterns out of 56 patterns in EuroMillions 5/50 game.
For those of you who want to delve deeper into the nitty-gritty aspect of calculation, I don’t hide the formula. I want to discuss how these patterns are obtained in detail, so I invite you to check the Free Guide: The Lottery and the Winning Formula According to Math.
The table above is very straightforward. If you want to win the EuroMillions, then focus on patterns #1 and #2. And forget about the rest of the patterns.
The problem, almost 90% of the lotto players, do not know the worst combinations that will put their money down the drain. For example, many people pick their combinations that belong to the worst group.
There are millions of these worst combinations in EuroMillions. How do you know your combinations are not one of these worst types?
What time does the Euromillion leave
What does the Euromillions leave? Why is this question important?
For example, the first thing you have to do is buy tickets at a time.
It is clear if you are late that you will have to wait for
the second opportunity.
In other words, you will only be able to hope that you will
guess the drawn numbers on the next draw.
Draw time is Tuesday and Friday night in the evening. In
conclusion every Tuesday or Friday you have the chance to win the main prize.
The results are available soon after the draw, meaning you will not have to wait a long time for the good news. However, don’t forget about the “My Tickets” option.
It will help you, in this case, to find out whether you are a winner or you will have to look for luck in the next draw.
Euromillions numbers checker
At Lottomania you can check which numbers you have selected.
However, on my account, you can see all the purchased tickets.
This is important because you will know how many tickets you
have bought and how much you will buy for the next draw.
Each player needs to decide for himself how much he invests in each game and whether it is worthwhile to play with several combinations at one time or allocate the costs for several subsequent draws.
Since the draw is in the evening, you will have enough time to do whatever you need.
EuroMillions lottery numbers
Want to beat the odds 1 to 139,838,160? You need to study a
few ways how you can choose the numbers.
Since the euromillions changed the game format at 5/50
+2/12, it is clear that you have to choose the balls from two special drums.
First of all, it is necessary to select five numbers from 1
to 50. However, two lucky stars should be chosen from 1 to 12.
In other words, these are additional numbers that are
equally important in order to win the main prize.
Deciding whether to choose them by yourself without the help
of a quick pick here are useful tips that could help you.
You need to make sure that you don’t choose only even or odd
numbers. According to many studies, it was rare that only even or odd numbers
In other words, it is best to play one of two combinations.
For example, you can try with 3/4 or 4/3 combination.
This would mean three even and four odd numbers or 4 odd and three even numbers.
In conclusion, it is best to always play a combination of several different numbers.
Make sure you don’t always choose the same numbers because this is not one of the better options if you want to become a new millionaire.
Take Advantage of the Jackpot Cap
The EuroMillions jackpot is capped at €200 million, with excess funds that would have been added to the top prize diverted to next-highest prize tier with any winners. While this technically doesn’t make you a jackpot winner, you could still pick up a seven-figure sum for matching five main numbers and one Lucky Star, and the odds of winning in this prize tier are just 1 in 6,991,908, compared with 1 in 139,838,160 for the jackpot.
On Friday 8th July 2011, six winners in the Match 5+1 tier won £3.3 million (€4.5 million) after the jackpot hit its then cap of €185 million.
Once the jackpot reaches €200 million, it can roll over four times before it either must be won or is rolled down into the next winning prize tier. During these rollovers, any excess funds that would have been added to the jackpot are also rolled down, bringing you a better chance of winning a life-changing prize without having to match all of the numbers drawn. See the Jackpot Cap page for more about how it works.
Combinatorial Patterns in EuroMillions
Let me describe a mathematical method that will catapult you to Euro Million’s success. Deep within the finite sets of EuroMillions numbers are combinatorial patterns that should tell you the best combinations to play and the worst ones to avoid.
The image above describes the complete randomness of a lottery game. It shows that the lotteries are made up of independent random draws that, when put together with time, exhibit a mathematically deterministic behavior given the law of large numbers. See The Visual Analysis of a True Random Lottery with Deterministic Outcome
Let me clarify that we don’t need statistics to determine the best combinations in a lottery game. The field of statistics may help an advanced lotto player (a little bit), but as far as identifying the best combinatorial patterns in a lotto game is concerned, statistical analysis will not provide precise and accurate results.
So if statistical analysis will not provide the best clue, what will?
Two branches of mathematics can be instrumental to your lottery success. They are combinatorics (or combinatorial math) and probability theory. These two mathematical tools will help predict the outcome of the EuroMillions game, as you will discover later.
Yes, you can predict the EuroMillions game to an extent. This prediction is possible because the lottery follows the dictate of probability.
Let me explain everything from the context of combinatorial patterns.
Since the lottery has a finite structure, any question that we ask is a probability problem to solve rather than statistical.
For example, we can ask:
“What is the probability that the next winning numbers will be 1-2-3-4-5?”
To solve the problem mathematically, we can rephrase the question this way:
“What is the probability that the next winning numbers will be three-odds and two-even numbers?”
You see composition matters.
And the composition of a combination is best described using a combinatorial pattern. You can look at combinatorial patterns in many different ways. There are simple patterns and advanced patterns.
Of course, needless to say, if we talk about advanced patterns, we’re talking about lotterycodex patterns.
We will talk about Lotterycodex patterns later.
First, I will tackle the two simplest combinatorial patterns. Then ultimately, I will discuss the advanced Lotterycodex patterns that show the best and the worst combinations in the EuroMillions game.
Let’s start with the odd-even patterns.

How to win lotto? Here are 3 hot tips that may help increase your chances of winning a big EuroMillions jackpot prize.
1) Group Strategies with EuroLotto Lottery Numbers
If you take a good look at past Euro Lottery winning numbers, you’ll see that much of the time, one number group wasn’t represented. For example, in this group of winning numbers—16, 9, 4, 18, 22—there are no numbers in the 30s group. Taking a little time to track and study the winning numbers will help you know which group of numbers to avoid and which to give extra heavy play.
2) Mix Up EuroLotto Odds and Evens Numbers
When you study groups of winning lottery numbers, you will see that all odd numbers or all even numbers only win about 3 percent of the time. So, to boost your chances of winning the EuroLotto , mix your numbers up with either 3/2 or 2/3 odd and even. These patterns have repeated themselves in about 68 percent of EuroMillions Lottery drawings.
3) Losing Numbers
EuroLotto Losing Numbers that haven’t hit for six games or less are winning numbers about 50 percent of the time. Losing numbers that haven’t hit in twelve games or less make up about 75 percent of all winning numbers. That makes these losers hot numbers that are more likely to win.

How to Play EuroMillions
EuroMillions is slightly similar to how other lottery games function – but they put their own spin on the formula. The gist is this: You select five numbers from 1 to 50, plus two additional numbers – also known as Lucky Stars – from 1 to 12. For players to win the jackpot, all five main numbers and both Lucky Stars have to match the combination drawn. The standard pricing for one EuroMillions ticket costs €2.50, but it may be a bit higher in some online outlets due to additional fees imposed by some lottery sites.
The Super Draw
The EuroMillions Super Draw offers a guaranteed minimum prize of €130 million!
The EuroMillions Super Draws are special events held every now and then that ensures a big payout to winners. These draws function pretty much the same as any regular EuroMillions draw, with one difference: jackpots are set to a guaranteed amount of at least €130 million. Should no one win the jackpot, it will simply roll over to the succeeding draw, and the next, and so on until it reaches the €190 million jackpot cap. The jackpot can remain at the aforementioned cap for a total of four drawings.
If no one still wins the jackpot, then the prize money will be distributed among winners of the 2nd prize tier. This is what is called an Event Draw. So far, however, there has never been a EuroMillions Event Draw.
The Odds of Winning
If you were thinking that it would be impossible to match all 5 numbers, plus 2 Lucky Stars, you’d be surprised to know that you actually have much better odds of winning a EuroMillions jackpot than, say, a Powerball one. Compared to the latter’s 1 in 292,201,338.00 odds, EuroMillions’ odds look much, much better. The overall odds for winning any prize, for instance, are 1 in 13 – pretty impressive, if you ask me. Take a gander at the table below to see what I mean:
|Up to €2,000||Prizes of up to €600 are paid directly into your online account. Larger prizes are paid directly into your bank account.|
|Over €2,000||You must visit your lottery account and request the transfer of your prize into your bank account. Prizes over €40,000 are taxed at a rate of 20%.|
|Prize Total||Authorised Retailer|
|Up to €2,000||Prizes can be claimed from any Loterias y Apuestas sales outlet.|
|Over €2,000||Prizes can be claimed from any Loterias y Apuestas sales outlet. Winnings will be paid via bank transfer. Prizes over €40,000 are taxed at a rate of 20%.|
EuroMillions players in Spain have three months to claim any prizes.
Receiving the Prize Money
The advisors have a lot of experience guiding winners and at the validation meeting they will take you through the next steps. They will recommend that you open a private bank account to receive the money into – mainly to help protect your privacy but also because banks that offer such accounts often have teams that deal specifically with lottery winners.
Once the claim has been validated and the bank account set up, the money will be transferred within 48 hours. From that point it is yours to do with as you wish. The lottery’s advisors will still be on hand to provide advice, but from then the money is yours.
